The latest box office hit by Studio Ghibli (PRINCESS MONONOKE, SPIRITED AWAY) is an adaption of the novel “The Borrowers” by Mary Norton. Arrietty lives with her family hidden under a house on the outskirts of Tokyo. The are “The Borrowers”: no bigger than an index finger, they come out at night to borrow what they need to survive from their human housemates. As young boy Sho moves into that house a secret friendship develops between him an Arrietty – the start of a big adventure…
A new Ghibli wonderland unfolds!

With ARRIETTY Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who can look back on a long career at Studio Ghibli, makes his debut as a director. Among others he contributed to Movies such as HOWLS MOVING CASTLE and PONYO. ARRIETTY was supervised by Ghibli-founder Hayao Miyazaki himself and won the Japan Academy Prize as best Animation movie. The soundtrack was composed by french singer and harpplayer Cécile Corbel, who recorded the title track in japanese, english and french. With a box-office takings of more than 110 million $ only in Japan the movie is a remarkable success.
